Turning off the Steam overlay

The overlay is the part of the interface that opens on top of almost any game in Steam. It can just get in the way, so here’s how to turn it off completely. Turning off the overlay may also slightly increase your FPS.

  1. Click Steam in the top left corner, choose “Settings” and go to the “In Game” section.
  2. Switch off “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”.
