What to check before you download an app to your device
Check the developer name and release date
A new app (especially a “clone” of a well-known wallet) may be fake. Check when it was first published.
Look at the number of downloads
Popular wallets have thousands of downloads. An app with only a few installs, say 300 users, is a reason to be careful.
Read the reviews
A rating below 3.5 stars and reviews that mention stolen money are a red flag.
Pay attention to permissions
If a wallet asks for access to your text messages, contacts or phone calls, that’s suspicious. Real wallets don’t need this.
